8th Grade Scrimmages

8-25 WMS 8th Grade tied Centerville 20-20 in their first scrimmage. Zach Day scored two touchdowns and Zach McCormick added a touchdown and extra point as the 8th grade came back from a 6-20 deficit in the fourth quarter. This was a great start to the season as the players never gave up and fought back late in the game.
9-2 WMS 8th Grade lost to Miami Trace 14-20 in their final scrimmage. Zach McCormick scored two touchdowns and an extra point for the Hurricane. Brenden Schweitzer added an interception defensively. The middle school football Hurricane squad faces off with Milford in their first official contest Thursday September 10 at Milford.

9-10 WMS seventh graders beat Milford 20-0 in their opening contest. They will play Edgewood on 9-17 at the Wilmington Youth Field.
9-17 WMS seventh graders beat Edgewood to notch their second victory of the season. The seventh grade Hurricane is now 2-0 and will play Nagle Silver on September 24.
9-24 WMS Seventh grade is now 3-0 following their clutch 6-0 defeat of Nagle Silver. After a key fumble recover the Hurricane punched in the winning score as time was running down and held Nagle Silver.
10-1 WMS Seventh graders move to 4-0 after defeating Little Miami 38-16. The seventh grade Hurricane is now 2-0 in the FAVC and travels to Amelia next Thursday.
10-8 The 7th grade Hurricane football squad stopped the Amelia Barons in the mud 8-0. They are now 5-0 and travel to Kings Tuesday October 13 for another FAVC Cardinal division contest.

Antwan Morris added the final score late in the 4th quarter on a two yard plunge into the endzone. Zach Day added the two point conversion on a successful sweep.

Zach McCormick caught two touchdowns and Marty Beaugard added the third score late in the 4th quarter to bring the Hurricane within two points. Wilmington is now 0-2 and plays Nagle Silver at home next Thursday.

Dimitrius Scott had an interception and Charlie Walker and Evan Massie added fumble recoveries as the Hurricane tallied 5 takeaways. They play Little Miami next Thursday at Alumni Field.

Offensively, Zach Day had two touchdown runs. Marty Beaugard and Zach McCormick added touchdown receptions from Cody McCune. Antwan Morris kicked 3 PAT’s and a field goal to round out Wilmington’s scoring. Defensively Grant Massie tallied an interception and Antwan Morris recovered a Little Miami Fumble. The 8th grade Hurricane goes to Amelia next Thursday.

Amelia had negative yards offense and the Wilmington defense played an excellent game. Wilmngton plays at Kings on October 13th for a piece of the FAVC Cardinal division title.
