Graduation 2021: Update Ceremony Information

Posted on: May 28, 2021

5/28/21 Update

The Graduation Ceremony for 2021 has been moved indoors for Friday, May 28, 2021! This decision was made due to the rain in the forecast this evening as well as the drop in temperatures and strong wind gusts predicted for Saturday.

  • We are able to allow all four guests per graduate to attend the ceremony, however ALL guests and students must wear a mask at all times. This plan was approved due to weather conditions and circumstances by our CCHD.
  • Doors open at 6:15 pm. The ceremony begins at 7:00 pm. It will be general seating in the gymnasium.
  • The family group of four must sit together in the designated seating spots. You are not allowed to save seating areas for other family groups.
  • Following the ceremony, graduates will pick up their individual diplomas in the Auditeria. All guests will immediately exit the gymnasium. We ask that you do not congregate while in the gymnasium.

Graduation will also be streamed on our YouTube channel at tinyurl.com/CaneLive.

Our priority in making this decision is to safely host the event while providing the opportunity for our families to honor the entire graduating class of 2021. We also want to respect your weekend plans to celebrate the graduates with other friends and family. Thank you for your partnership and support. Congratulations to our Graduates and their families.

General Ticket Information

Starting Wednesday, May 5th at 6:00 pm, Seniors will be able to reserve their tickets using our online system. Each graduating senior will be able to bring 4 guests.

  • Due to COVID Safety regulations, each family grouping party of 4 must sit together.
  • No additional tickets will be available due to distancing and spacing regulations.
  • Each Senior’s guest “pod” will receive 1 group ticket for their 4 guests.
  • Because there is 1 ticket per pod, your party of 4 will need to enter together on the night of graduation.

Ceremony Date, Time, and Location

In order to hold an in-person ceremony for our seniors and guests, and accommodate the largest number of people, we will hold the event outside at Alumni Field on May 28th, 2021 at 7:00 pm. With spacing requirements, this will allow us to have four guests per graduate.

Because this event is outdoors, we have secured additional rain dates:

  • Rain Date One: Saturday, May 29th at 1:00
  • Rain Date Two: Sunday, May 30th at 1:00

If the weather does not cooperate, and we have exhausted the two alternative dates listed above, the ceremony will be held indoors on Monday, May 31st at 1:00. This is a last resort. In this event, due to COVID regulations, the gymnasium seating will only allow for two tickets per graduate. Please plan accordingly for this last resort. All information regarding changes to ceremony dates will be communicated via the WCS website.
