Quarantine Update for Spring

Posted on: March 19, 2021

Wilmington City Schools continues to work hard at contact tracing and quarantines as an important measure in preventing the spread of COVID-19 at school.

During the Winter months, Wilmington followed the 14 day quarantine rule as recommended and encouraged by our Local and State Department of Health and the CDC.  In specific circumstances where the exposure time at school (during the school day) was evidenced as a limited amount of time and there were other measures in place, we used the reduced duration.  We did this with guidance and direction from our Department of Health.  We continued to follow the strict 14 days for any exposure that occurred outside of school or during any extra-curricular activities.

Starting on March 29, 2021, we will be allowing more students and staff to use the reduced duration options whenever possible and appropriate.  Parents and guardians will be notified by a school official if they are able to use the reduced quarantine options.

Please review our Updated Quarantine Guidance for Spring 2021 document for details and FAQs.
