WCS Finances: General Information

Posted on: October 26, 2021

Wilmington City Schools utilizes the funding we have received for 18 years through the 1% Income Tax to support the normal daily operations of our schools. Renewal of this tax allows us to sustain the normal functions of our schools.

The ESSER funds schools have received are one time funds to help schools with the additional costs associated with educating students during these challenging times. It is intended to provide relief for the financial constraints schools are facing as they begin to address learning gaps for students. These funds will not continue and will not cover our normal operating expenses to sustain our schools.

Update: The 2021-22 school year is still in progress. See WCS Finances - Info and FAQs for our 2022 updated expenditures.

Updated 11/1/21: Check out our November 2021 Newsletter for some great examples of grant money at work in your schools.
