Weekly District Dashboard Update

Posted on: September 6, 2021

Last week was our first full week with masks and the number of quarantines due to exposure while at school has dropped significantly. We are able to safely keep more kids in school.  The students and staff of WCS are demonstrating respect for one another by wearing masks and remaining positive and fully engaged in school activities.

You’ll notice that we changed our dashboard format to provide more detail and have added weekly totals.
Please note the following changes:

  • Quarantines are counted by the source of the exposure

    • School Exposure: Students/staff placed in quarantine by the Health Dept due to exposure while at school or while participating in school extra-curricular activities.

    • Outside Exposure:  Students/staff placed in quarantine by the Health Dept due to exposure outside of school (ie positive family member, activities, birthday party, etc)

  • Weekly totals are provided for each category. These are not cumulative. They represent the new cases and quarantines reported to us during the report week (Monday thru Sunday).

Dashboard Notes:

  • Due to a case in the WMS Cheerleading program, there were a higher number of students that had to quarantine because of this close exposure in this activity.

  • Prior to the full week in mask mandate we had 73 students in quarantine due to school exposure. The first full week in masks we had 35 students in quarantine due to school exposure.

Important to Note:

  • We observed that 6 students that were previously quarantined due to outside exposure ended up testing positive for COVID.

  • We observed that 5 students that were previously quarantined due to school exposure ended up testing positive for COVID.

  • Our district attendance rate average during the week of Sept 30-Oct 3 was 84%.  We continue to monitor our staff and student attendance closely.
