WHS Alumni Spotlight - Dakota Cravens '18

Dakota Cravens - far left
Our WHS Alumni Spotlight is on Dakota Cravens, Class of 2018! In high school, Dakota was an attackman for the WHS Lacrosse team for 4 years, a member of the Wilmingtones for 3 years, and participated in various plays and musicals throughout the years.
When asked to share a favorite memory, he had too many to choose from! However, he shared that his favorite staff member had to be Mr. Reed and called him “one of the greatest librarian/computer technicians I know”. He also wanted to pass along his thanks to Mrs. Knoblauch (English) and Mr. Beck (Music, retired).
After graduation and a trip to Florida, Dakota was shipped to Parris Island for recruit training. He is currently 3/4 of the way into his contract with the Marine Corps. He has been stationed in California since March 2019 with a 6 month deployment to Okinawa, Japan, in 2020. He plans to obtain an Associates Degree in Science and Professional Studies in January 2022. Dakota also plans to marry his high school sweetheart, Sophie Reed, in 2022! He eventually would like to move to Oregon, attend the University of Western States, and become a Chiropractor.
We asked what advice he would give to current and future WHS students. Dakota shared that he would like to tell current and future WHS students that their future is completely, 100% up to them and said, “Realistically, you have all of the time in the world to make a decision. Do what makes you happy.”
Dakota also wanted to take this time to give a much deserved shout out to Patrick Black, USMC, Gage Smith, US Army, Ozzy Gonzalez, USMC, Justus Farris, USAF, and all WHS alumni who currently serve in our Military.
We wish Dakotal all the best in his future endeavors and are grateful for his service to our country.
