WHS Alumni Spotlight - Chad Roberts, Class of 2014!

Posted on: March 8, 2022

Our WHS Alumni Spotlight is on Chad Roberts, Class of 2014! While attending WHS, Chad was a 4-year letterman in Varsity Baseball and a 1-year letterman in Varsity Cross Country. He was also a member of both Phi Delta Sigma and the National Honor Society. One of his favorite memories was that of being a Project TRUST counselor. Project TRUST (Teaching Respect, Understanding, and Student Teamwork) helps create bonds between Middle School and High School students that are built on trust and acceptance across the board. Chad shared that this was one of the most fun ways to help him become a great leader throughout many other aspects of his life so far.

After graduation from WHS, Chad continued his baseball career into college. In 2015, he played for the Marshall University Thundering Herd. After a long season, he transferred to Sinclair Community College and played in 2016 when they placed third at the World Series, finishing the season 53-12. In 2017 and 2018, he played at Northern Kentucky University for the Norse. While at Northern Kentucky, Chad was able to travel on two separate mission trips to the Dominican Republic. On these trips he learned more about his faith while serving and highly recommends this experience to anyone who is able to do something like this. He graduated from NKU with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

In doing a little research, we also know that while at NKU his coaches recognized Chad as an exemplary student athlete. He not only had a strong work ethic on and off the field, Chad also volunteered his time to organizations that included Team Impact, the Children’s Hospital, Hosea House, and the Down Syndrome Association. Today, Chad manages a Baseball and Softball training facility in Dublin, Ohio. He shared that while playing baseball was a lot of fun, the ability to teach kids as young as seven years old what the game of baseball is all about is just as fun for him. We’re excited to hear that Chad is able to be a positive influence on others while following his passion for the sport.

Chad’s advice to current and future WHS students - “Don't look at yourself from anyone else's viewpoint other than your own. Your own opinion of yourself is the only thing that matters. Oh, and stay in school!"

In his free time, he plays a lot of volleyball and softball with friends and spends a lot of time with his dog, Sage. We are Hurricane Proud of Chad and wish him (and Sage, too) all the best!
